Our mission statement
Bring local food to everyone.

With thousands of variants of edible fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices available, almost every climate has produce which grows locally. Despite this, most individuals in the U.S. rely entirely on grocery stores for their food and are unaware of the vast amounts of energy used to move these goods from a farm to their table. We facilitate the growing, sharing and consumption of locally-grown produce so everyone can enjoy tastier, fresher and more nutritous food then what's at their resident grocery chain. This helps ensure locally-grown produce doesn't go to waste, communities get closer and that each individual's climate footprint is just a tad smaller.
What we believe

Everyone has a part to play.

With the vast majority of food in the U.S. being bought from grocery stores and roughly 50% of produce overall being thrown away, we think folks want a way to make a dent in their collective energy footprint and waste output. Whether that means contributing just a bit less to CO2 emissions by getting your lemon from the neighbor (instead of the local store), or giving away some apples instead of letting them rot on the ground, we want to help.

You are what you eat.

We've always been believers in the concept of 'You are what you eat'. With that in mind, we want to provide communities with a simple way to find and access some of the most delicious and nutritious food available: Produce grown close to home.

Invest locally.

Each communinity is it's own ecosystem with unique characters, hidden gems and social ties. We anchored Ourvocado on leveraging locally grown produce to encourage each neighborhood's inhabitants to get closer to each other through the oldest way possible, with food.
The team
Daniel Rhinehart
Founder

Daniel grew up in Texas loving barbeque, football and video games. He spent his early career in the banking and fintech industries before making his way to the Bay Area in 2016. During COVID, he and his family regularly took long walks where they discovered their neighborhood, the people within it and the food they grew. After establishing a few fruitful routes and bartering partnerships for himself, he set off to share this experience with everyone by building a product that would allow folks to eat healthy, build local connections and help the climate.
